For those with sensitive, acne prone skin, meet your new best friend. This rich, nourishing cream aims to repair sensitised damaged skin and is also quite soothing for any irritation or redness!
It is formulated with Panthenol (Vitamin B5) and Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) as two of the key ingredients and it also contains two different forms of Ceramide; Ceramide NP and Ceramide AP. While panthenol hydrates, soothes and promotes healing in the skin, Niacinamide helps to reduce redness and brighten up hyperpigmentation. Niacinamide can also help with the smoothing of skin texture and minimising the appearance of pores.
Ceramide AP and NP are both found naturally in the skin. However, when applied topically, they help to replenish the skin’s moisture, and help to improves the skin barrier’s function. They also help to repair the skin and strengthen the skin as well.
As for the soothing aspect of the cream, Dr Belmeur is most famous for using a wide range of plant derived ingredients as they are able to penetrate the skin more effectively without causing any sort of irritation; hence making it ideal for sensitive skin. The Advanced CICA Repair Cream contains extracts from Centella Asiatica which help to actively soothe and calm the skin while also promoting healing; Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Madecassic Acid, Asiatic Acid.
It also contains quite a high concentration of Nutmeg Extract. Nutmeg has curative, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties making it another great ingredient for those prone to acne and breakouts. Being an antioxidant, it also helps to increase skin cell turnover; the renewal of skin cells, which helps to fade scarring overtime as well.
Dr Belmeur’s Advanced CICA Recovery Cream is most suitable for combination to oily skin types who are prone to acne, sensitivity or for those who have a damaged skin barrier. It is quite thick in texture so drier skin types can also use this product. I would recommend this strictly as a night cream because it is meant for intense repairing and healing of the skin; so, it is more suitable for night use (when our skin naturally repairs itself the most!).
